Sunglass Hut of America
Dr. Sanford L. Ziff, a former clinical researcher, humanitarian, entrepreneur, and international lecturer on contact lenses, is the founder of Sunglass Hut of America. His first kiosk boutique opened in the Dadeland Mall in 1971.
Over the next 20 years, he opened 550 Sunglass Hut boutiques in malls in every state and throughout Canada, and in 1990, he created his first airport location in Miami International Airport. Soon there were boutiques in airports throughout the United States and the world, and Sunglass Hut earned the distinction of being the largest retailer of quality, fashion and sport sunglasses worldwide.
Dr. Ziff eventually sold his privately held company and has devoted his time since then to tirelessly supporting his community. Sunglass Hut is now owned by Luxottica of Italy. Dr. Ziff lectured frequently at universities and business schools around the country to share his entrepreneurial experiences.
You will also see his name on numerous community and education buildings along with prestigious department buildings at the University of Miami and Nova University. Dr. Ziff has been on the premier sponsor corporation team since 2006.
We lost a great man at the age of 91, Thank you Sanford for your shared Experience, Wisdom and Hope. RIP
